Neil Young investirá a Tom Waits en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Neil Young será el encargado de presentar a Tom Waits como nuevo miembro del Rock and Roll Hall of Fame en la ceremonia de investidura que tendrá lugar el próximo 17 de marzo en Nueva York.

Al parecer, a Waits y Young les une una amistad desde hace años. De hecho, Tom Waits ha participado en diversas ocasiones en el concierto benéfico Bridge School Benefit que Neil Young organiza cada año.

Tom Waits entra en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Tom Waits, Dr. John y Darlene Love son los elegidos para entrar este año en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Es susceptible de ser elegido para este galardón cualquier artista con una carrera discográfica de más de 25 años. Las votaciones las lleva a cabo un jurado de más de 500 profesionales de la música.

La 26 ceremonia de entrada en el Rock and Roll Hall of Fame se celebrará el próximo 14 de marzo en el Waldorf-Astoria de Nueva York.

From the Big Apple to the Big Easy

Vaya usted a saber por qué, Tom Waits no aparecerá en el doble DVD que Rhino sacará a la venta el 22 de agosto y que recogerá algunos de los mejores momentos del concierto en beneficio de los afectados por el Katrina que se celebró en el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York el 20 de septiembre del 2005.

Waits actuó aquella noche acompañado de Larry Taylor (bajo), Stephen Hodges (batería), Charlie Musselwhite (armónica) y Smokey Hormel (guitarra). Pese a que no existe ninguna grabación (pirata) del concierto, se sabe que Waits aprovechó la ocasión para expresar su deseo de que "ojalá Nueva Orleans estuviera seca y Washington bajo las aguas".

Pese a que todavía no hay fecha de lanzamiento, parece ser que Anti ya ha distribuido en Estados Unidos algunas copias promocionales de Healing the Divide, el disco que recopila los mejores momentos del concierto benéfico celebrado en Nueva York el 21 de septiembre de 2003.
